Gaming tax
Tax reform effective 1 January 2024: 30% GGR for live games, online sports/live betting, totalisator, bingo, raffles, small-scale poker tournaments (raised from 23%). 35% GGR remains for lotteries and technical games (online slots and land-based slots). Minimum tax CZK 13,400 per slot machine per quarter. Player tax exemption threshold dropped from CZK 1m to CZK 50,000 (15 February 2024).
Marketing climate
Moderate. Sports betting and slot advertising regulated; bonus advertising more constrained than in 2020s peak.
The market
Czech Republic is among the most credible CEE markets. From 2024, licensed operators may serve foreign players (subject to those jurisdictions' laws). H1 2025 GGR CZK 32bn (~€1.3bn); online crossed land-based for the first time at 60.5% online vs 39.5% land-based. Regulator clawed back $22.71m in misreported tax in 2024.
